Basic Navigation and Safety Shorebased Course
Duration:
2 days (either a weekend or during the week)
Scheduled courses are held at Southampton, Hampshire UK and in the Solent area.
Likely participants:
The course is applicable to a wide audience including sailing, power boaters, jet skiers, sea anglers divers and suits those who are new to boating and are keen to spend time developing their theoretical knowledge away from the water, either before or after attending a Day Skipper Practical Course. It also acts as an excellent follow on to Powerboat Level 2 or as an essential ahead of the Intermediate Powerboat or Advanced Powerboat Course.
This is an excellent course to take as it goes into far more detail about aspects of safety, boat types, weather, navigation, charts, Collision Regulations, etc, than can be achieved over the duration of a short practical course. Entirely classroom based, this course lasts 2 days.
This is an ideal course for a RYA Powerboat Level 2 or Motor Cruising Helmsman 'graduates' to take to build on their knowledge or as a prerequisite for the Advanced Powerboat Course. Equally if you intend taking Day Skipper Practical Course then taking this course will allow more of your practical course to be dedicated to the practical aspects of the course
