Why Choose the RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course?
When you take the RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course with Duck-2-Water, you’ll be able to apply for an ICC of up to 10 metres. This course provides you with what you need to know to master powerboats, and it covers practical instruction and navigational theory.
You will learn how to handle a powerboat as well as seamanship, so you can handle your own powerboat competently. It is longer than the Powerboat Level 1 Course, so it goes into much more depth.
When you take the PB2 course with Duck-2-Water, qualified RYA instructors will provide training on a modern and fully-equipped powerboat. Your instructor will cover the following topics with you during your 2 days with him or her:
- Launching and recovery
- Powerboat handling
- Securing to a buoy
- Anchoring
- Leaving and coming alongside
- Man overboard
Powerboat Level 2 Theory & Practical
When you take the Powerboat Handling Level 2 Course, you will cover both theory and practical elements. The first day focuses on RYA theory and packs in a lot of information about different craft types and their advantages, safety checks, communication, emergencies, engines, drives and more.
On the second day, you will usually have a practical assessment, depending on the structure determined by your instructor. During this, you will show that you can handle the boat and carry out manoeuvres.
Requirements for the Course
The only requirement is that you are over 12. You do not need to take the Powerboat Level 1 Course, nor do you need any experience in powerboats.
