Who Is the RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course For?
The RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course near Northampton is ideal for anyone who wants to use a powerboat in confidence and apply for an ICC. It includes both theory and practical components, and it goes into greater depth than the Powerboat Level 1 Course.
You will learn all about powerboat seamanship and how to handle powerboats. Our coastal school provides you with a friendly and welcoming environment, and you will leave with the coincidence to handle your own powerboat.
When you take the PBL2 course with Duck-2-Water, qualified RYA instructors will provide training on a modern and fully-equipped powerboat. Your instructor will cover the following topics with you during your 2 days with him or her:
- Launching and recovery
- Powerboat handling
- Securing to a buoy
- Anchoring
- Leaving and coming alongside
- Man overboard
What Does the RYA Powerboat Course Cover?
This course takes place over two days. The first day covers the theory element, where you will learn about different types of powerboats and issues like emergencies and communication.
The second day will usually include the practical assessment where you will show that you can confidently manoeuvre the craft. You may also be able to take this assessment without doing the course, so ask us for more information about this option.
What Are the Requirements?
You do not need to have any prior experience of powerboats to take this course. You may want to take the Powerboat Level 1 Course first, but this is optional. You must be over 12 to take the course, but there are no other specific requirements.
