Why Choose the RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course?
The RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course is the most popular powerboat course, and it will provide you with everything you need to know about powerboats including the theory and practical elements.
Learn how to handle your powerboat and about powerboat seamanship so you can enjoy complete command of your powerboat in confidence. Once you have your certificate, you can apply for the ICC of up to 10 metres.
It’s a longer course compared to the Powerboat Level 1 Course, so it provides you with more time to cover the subjects in greater depth. If you are based in Swindon, our training centre is conveniently located nearby, so you can easily take the course with Duck-2-Go.
When you take the PBL2 course with Duck-2-Water, qualified RYA instructors will provide training on a modern and fully-equipped powerboat. Your instructor will cover the following topics with you during your 2 days with him or her:
- Launching and recovery
- Powerboat handling
- Securing to a buoy
- Anchoring
- Leaving and coming alongside
- Man overboard
What’s Covered on the RYA Powerboat Level 2?
This is a two-day course, and each day will cover different aspects. The first day usually covers the theory element, where you will learn all about powerboats, types, advantages, engines, and more, as well as emergencies, safety checks and communication.
On the second day, you will usually have the practical assessment, and this will cover handling the boat safely and competently. If you prefer, you can take the test without doing the RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course, as this is also an option.
What Are the Requirements?
You do not need to have any prior experience of powerboats to take this course. You may want to take the Powerboat Level 1 Course first, but this is optional. You must be over 12 to take the course, but there are no other specific requirements.
